I have read from an article which talks about the struggle and at some to the point of closure of the Army surplus stores in the US. The author points out that the terrorists are making sure that those malicious groups cannot easily find good combat clothing and gear, which honestly, I am not sure if this is correct.
In fact, on my recent buying trip, I discovered that the extent of army surplus clothing is not into the quantities it was before. All UK Army surplus retailers have to go to bring in kit the MOD contractor who generally has cages and cages of product to choose from are for me a replica of its former self. Actually, Camo is a multi terrain pattern army clothing consolidated from the different patterns of the MOD. This will directly cut down on the amount of gear that is being manufactured. Soldiers then need less surplus clothing as the Camo jacket is not issued one to cover all bases. With another wholesaler, they can supply more of European surplus and they believed that the huge storage hangers that they discover at various UK army bases are empty. There are really nothing left in stores and as what they think, we also believe that this is very possible. For a long period of time, we have enjoyed the selling of this British surplus and now the gulp of this kind of gear is already gone. As we know, the MOD is being affected by the spending cuts of the government. For the next five (5) years, the days of purchasing 30,000 pairs of trousers to cover QM Stores had gone. This is the effect of the knock on this means. This is then the method of purchasing; Just In Time or JIT is being adopted. This means that if you only need 2,000 pairs of trousers, then that’s all they shall have made.
From the points above, you can notice that there is an awful lot more going on that has a big impact on the availability of surplus clothing. Simply, I can say that this is another chance for the “Terrorism” card to play. Terrorism is honestly an issue but there is nothing to do with blaming every one of our problems on it. They say that one of the most desirable items for surplus stores is the camouflage clothing but this is simply isn’t true. Camo clothing is really quite hard to sell. Paint balling fraternity really wants it, yes, I agree with that, but do you know how many regular paint ball players are there? And there it is, the World of Army Surplus now about to change as well as its kit, if not, getting it will become really hard. I doubted that this will go out of business. There have been many difficulties before and for a short time, a change in focus occurs, but it keeps on going. I know that this will be okay for one real reason and that is there is still sufficient stock to keep this business going for years.
